Strengthening the economic, social and political participation of multiply marginalised women in climate hotspots of Bangladesh (AGROJATRA) -Ongoing

Strengthening the economic, social and political participation of multiply marginalised women in climate hotspots of Bangladesh (short: AGROJATRA) project aims to empower marginalized women affected by climate change in the region to enhance their capacities, improve access to resources, income opportunities, and rights, and actively participate in political dialogue with government authorities. This will enable them and their families to enhance their economic, social, and political participation and protect the rights of marginalized groups. The women-led civil society organisations (CSOs) effectively support their members in accessing resources, achieving low-emission and climate-resilient income and expanding their risk mitigation strategies. They are strengthened as civil society actors to effectively demand and protect the rights of marginalized populations and hold state institutions accountable. Through comprehensive capacity building, the women can bring their perspectives on climate adaptation and climate justice into the political discourse. At the same time, gender-specific advocacy issues important to the direct target group are identified and documented at the micro level, on the basis of which policy recommendations are shared with policymakers and the public. The capacity strengthening of civil society actors and their context-specific application directly contributes to strengthening the civic space, which is classified as 'closed' in Bangladesh.

Enhancing Resources and Increasing Capacities of Poor House-holds Towards Elimination of their Poverty (ENRICH). -Ongoing

People's livelihoods, poverty and development are multidimensional. Therefore, it is not possible to significantly reduce poverty through microcredit alone, let alone achieve sustainable socio-economic progress. Various studies show that more than 10 percent of poor microfinance borrowers have not been able to rise above the poverty line. To truly eradicate poverty, it is necessary to adopt integrated programs that address other aspects of the lives and livelihoods of poor people, including healthcare, nutrition, education, training, awareness-raising, infrastructure, and financial activities. Of course, needs-based financing is an important part of this integrated program. In line with this line of thinking, in early 2010, the donor agency PKSF outlined an integrated program called the "Prosperity Program" for people-centered integrated development. Of course, funding according to need is an important component of this integrated program. At the same time, the prosperity program is a dynamic program that integrates various important components, including social, economic, physical, and environmental issues. This program is carrying out community-level development work, including health and nutrition, and education, for the sustainable development of poor people.
